Office Volunteer
Office volunteers perform a variety of office and support functions including:
Greeting visitors, answering the phone, medical records, and assisting with special projects.
Office volunteers may assist in the ‘Tuck In” program. This program identifies patient and/or family needs prior to the weekend for crisis and anxiety management.
Direct Patient Volunteer
Direct patient volunteers are companions who offer friendship, socialization, and non-medical support to the patient and caregiver. They provide regularly scheduled visits which may include playing games, conversation, sharing hobbies, listening, laughing, or doing puzzles.
Direct patient volunteers can consist of pet therapy, music, bereavement, massage therapy, respite, military ambassador, or companion volunteers.
Special Projects Volunteer
Alleve Hospice welcomes the involvement of faith congregations, civic organizations, youth groups, businesses, and college groups. Individuals and groups help with special projects such as crafts, holiday parties, and other events. Volunteers also make gifts for patients such as knitting blankets, sewing comfort bears, or making cards.
Junior Volunteer
Our junior volunteer program offers an opportunity for youth between the ages of 7-18 to begin service learning projects. These youth are exposed to seniors residing in retirement, assisted living, and long term care communities. Their service hours can be beneficial in applying for college scholarships.
Alleve’s junior volunteers assist with special projects, parties and events and are a vital part to brightening the lives of our patients. This is a once-a-month commitment to providing activities such as, bingo, crafts, painting nails and celebrating birthdays and holidays.
